More model informationThis is a t-shaped hilt used for mounting a dagger found at Bar Hill. It has projecting lugs half-way down upright which ends in a crescent shape. Both the bar and upright have two holes and the ends of the bar are turned over at right angles. The complete hilt consisted of two such mountings between which the dagger would have rested, held in position by rivets.
The Antonine Wall stretched right across Scotland, from the Clyde to the Forth. Constructed around 142 AD, and occupied for only 20 years, the remains of its ramparts, steep ditches, forts and bathhouses are still visible today.
