More model information

This is a model generated from drone imagry posted by Digital Smoke Signals . It depicts one of two drilling pad errected on the shores of Lake Oahe north of the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota as captured on Nov 8th 2016. It was created via photogrammetry, a process that allows 3D models to be generated from photos. Photogrammetry plays an important role in digital preservation which is a field concerned with protecting and documenting fragile and irreplacable assets such as museum artifacts. This is an experiment in using that technology as a tool for active cultural preservation and as a tool to document the destruction of cultural sites. I extend my highest respects to the indigenous media teams on-site for documenting these importaint events.
