This monument of a group of lifesized dancers performing the Flower Dance is located in Tegueste, Tenerife, Canary Islands was inaugurated on 28th of november 2010 and created by Esculturas Bronzo.
The Flower Dance (Danza de las Flores) is traditional dance in Tegueste on Tenerife. The origin of the dance seems not clearly determined. The dancer in the middle of the group carries a pole decorated with a crown of flowers. Ribbons, also decorated with flowers, are attached to the pole right under the colorful crown. The other dancers, 6 to 12, people hold on to the end of the ribbons and perform the dance in an circular manner around the pole to the beat of the drums. All dancer are dressed in white wearing a feathered plume hat. Colorful silk bands are attached to the hat and knotted around the shoulders.
