More model informationThis sandstone rock lying under the turf at Davy’s Lee, Northumberland, UK may be part of a disturbed burial cairn. The markings on its surface appear to be very eroded and may have been cups with associated grooves, common motifs of prehistoric rock art. Most of the markings could be discarded as being natural erosion or weathering apart from the little cross-grid motif which is undoubtedly artificial and rarely seen in the county. The rock was investigated and photographed as part of a survey by North of the Wall Tynedale Archaeology Group in 2016.
