The Upper Paleolithic Javelin made from a tubular bone of large animal. It is pointed,with the grooves to install the flint inserts. Surface is covered with a black patina. Wide sides are engraved with cartouches divided by horizontal lines (ten cartouches on the front side and one on the back). The stratigraphis, and thus, chronological attribution is not clear. The uniqueness of this find is hard to express — its level of preservation and aesthetic values are beyond any standards.
The artifact originates from the Romankivska Upper Paleolithic campsite. Its Length = 27 cm; width = 2.3 cm.
Artefact is stored at Dmytro Yavornitskiy Dnipro National Historical Museum.
The model was digitized in the course of the project “Preserving Ukrainian Legacy,” supported by the US Embassy in Ukraine (Kyiv) and the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation. It is a joint ownership of Dmytro Yavornitskiy Dnipro National Historical Museum, non-profit organization “CyArk” and NGO “Scientific Research Lab “Archaic”.
