It was found in a field between New Scone and Murrayshall, Perth, Scotland and donated to Perth Museum in November 1832 by John Murray of Murrayshall. It was first published and illustrated by John Alexander Smith in 1874 in the Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland (https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archiveDS/archiveDownload?t=arch-352-1/dissemination/pdf/vol_011/11_029_062.pdf).
