With my submission to the #NatureAndCivChallenge I want to draw attention to the negative impact of human civilization on the environment.
I have chosen a destroyed piece of forest on the slope of the Altkönig in the Taunus Mountains of Hesse, in which you can see the not quite so direct but still noticeable effects of humankind on nature.
What led to this is the lack of rainfall in recent summers due to global warming. As a result, the bark beetle increasingly settled in the dry trees and continues to destroy them. This ultimately means that trees are also less able to withstand the increasingly frequent storms. As a result, an entire section of forest with spruce trees was destroyed in this way or had to be felled to stop the spread of the pests.
Thus, more and more Central European forests are threatened.
