Devoid is the result of Robotnik taking over little planet and using the time stones to erase sonic from existance, the only thing that kept him alive was his speed, but he was a hollow shell, and when he escaped the void, he found out that if anyone looked at his face (which was now a hollow void) they would be sucked in and their pained screams of agony forever echoing in his mind, nearly driving him insane, with his newfound powers, he planned on finding Robotnik and destroying him once and for all
