Representation of the Town Musicians of Bremen in the fairy tale village of Poysbrunn. The sculpture consisting of a donkey, dog, cat and rooster was created by Gerald Lechner.
Every summer, the Fairy Tale Summer of Lower Austria takes place at Poysbrunn Castle. Sculptures from well-known fairy tales are located in the village.
The Bremen Town Musicians is the title of a fairy tale published by the Brothers Grimm in 1819. The old donkey is to be slaughtered. Therefore he flees and wants to become a town musician in Bremen. On the way he meets the dog, the cat and the rooster one after the other. These three are also already old and are to die. They follow the donkey and also want to become town musicians. The animals correspond to the servants and maids who have grown old in their service to the rulers, who have been worn out and have become useless through loss of power.
