The principle of operation of this rifle is based on the long course of the barrel, in consequence of which the whole receiver box comes into motion. The principle of unlocking / locking the bolt as the PTRD 41, the idea of rolling back the receiver is taken from Sjögren Inertia shotgun. The idea of the ammunition rammer is taken from a Howell rifle.

In theory, the recoil of the receiver should reduce the impact of the shot
