The traditional two roomed structure has a room with a smaller washing area, often with a highly decorative sceen seperating it from teh main area. Later versions are of cast concrete, but this example is in a material called Juss, a mix of sandy and lime, creating a cement like material.
Al Jazirat Al Hamra was a Za’ab town between Ras al Khaimah and Umm al Qawain - It was abandoned in the 1970s famed for fishing and pearling fleets, this ghost town is being brought back to life by archaeollogical recording, excavation and reconstruction.
