More model informationThe 179 ft wooden bulk carrier D. M. Wilson was built in 1873. In 1894 with barge Manitowoc in tow it sprang a leak about 25 miles from Thunder Bay. Steamers Hudson and Samuel Mitchel took him in tow and tried to reach Middle Island, but the Wilson ended up sinking two and a half miles off Thunder Bay Island. Today it lies in forty feet of water and is a popular recreational dive site in Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. The model was created from 2,655 - 6720 x 4480 pixel images from a Canon5D camera and 1,125 3680 x 2760 pixel GoPro images.
