Dou-Gong modular system

“Dougongs” are modular cantilever components of the traditional chinese architecture.

“Dougong” is composed of two different types of structural elements: (01) “Dou” which is placed on top of a column and looks like a capital and (02)” Gong” which are bow shaped elements on higher levels that are placed on smaller wooden blocks called “Sheng”.

Both “Dou” and “Gong” are assembled by mortice and tenon joints.
