Doubler Stones Allotment 01 (Oct 2012)3D Model
Possible carved rock found in the Doubler Stones Allotment area of Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire.
Referenced IAG44 in Boughey & Vickerman’s 2003 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding’, the authors describe:
‘Small rough grit rock 4 possible cups’
Although possible, there has to be some doubt whether the markings are definitely prehistoric. 19th C OS maps show ‘Shooting Shelters’ directly to the west. Could these markings be highly eroded bullet impacts? Definite prehistoric carvings in the area may persuade otherwise.
