1920’s miner dwellings carved out of ancient Tecopa Lakebed sediments. Bottom 5’ of sediments are actually Lava Creek tuff from Yellowstone’s last large eruption 630,000 years ago. Carving into bluff was a means of insulating dwellings from harsh summer temperatures.
