More model information

Before being dismantled, Charles Dixon-Spain recorded the Turret at Dunans. This model, plus extensive internal photography, will help our contractor when it comes to the roof being rebuilt. At the point the photographs for this model were taken the roof was so weak that stripping off the very light green membrane compromised the sarking underneath - turned out the staples holding fabric to roof were stronger than the handcut clouts fixing board to joists. The technical terms for the roof, particularly the structural timbers, was ‘cheese’ - it even had ementhal-style holes in it courtesy of an army of woodworms. See DunansCastle.tv for more information on the works subsequent to this survey.

Built c. 1871, repaired 1910 & 1958, before stripping in 2007 and dismantlement 2020.
