More model informationA Class I symbol stone: a rough sandstone pillar, 4‘8” high, 2‘3” wide and 1’ thick. Now housed within Meffan Museum, Forfar the Dunnichen Symbol Stone was ploughed up in in a field at Cashel Park near Forfar in 1811. NO 516 496 on SE slope of Dunnichen Hill. The stone has mirror and comb symbols as well as Z-rod and double disc. It also has a rarer symbol of a ‘flower’ at the top. The rear is scored with plough marks as the stone lay face down in a the field. The stone is 7th century. The vertical lines may have been carved later than the symbols possibly to turn the stone into a cist as a stone coffin was found beneath the stone. Canmore ID 34684
