The E-5 was created[14] and adapted from the BlasTech design to be used by B1-series battle droids.[1] Bounty hunter C-21 Highsinger wielded an E-5 while attacking fellow hunters Jango Fett and Aurra Sing.[18] It was also used by BX-series droid commandos. It was used throughout the Clone Wars, making it the most common weapon of the Separatists. The blaster generated excessive heat, which was caused by its rapid-fire mode, making it uncomfortable for organics to use but more than adequate for a battle droid.
