This early historic stone cross was discovered lying horizontal in a sand quarry on a prominent ridge at Quoyness, Sanday, Orkney in July 2021. The front face bears a cross deeply carved in relief, while the opposite side bears a more suble cross carved in outline (see matcap view). The sides and top are unworked, except for a coarsely pecked shallow oval cup (11x13 cm) on the top. The lower 1.05m of the stone is unworking indicating it may have been set in the ground as a standing stone. This may have been a prehistoric standing stone to which cross carvings were added. TT 100/23, Allocated to Orkney Museum in August 2023.
