This redware/earthenware large cup form porringer with flared rim, likely had a strap handle. Porringers were small bowls, typically with a handle, that were used for soup, stew, or other foods eaten with a spoon. This piece has been restored and is in the curated collections at Fort Frederica National Monument, Georgia. The dimensions are 4 3/4” diameter and 3 1/2” high. The interior and exterior are a red/brown glazed ceramic. This historic artifact was recovered from Fort Frederica and the town of Frederica, Georgia (c. 1736-1746).
This artifact was digitized using blue light laser scanning and photogrammetry textures applied, and is part of a larger digitization and interpretive design collaboration between the University of South Florida Libraries (USF CDHGI) and the National Park Service/Fort Frederica National Monument.
