Date Range: 1820 - Present
Material: Refined Earthenware
Glaze: Alkaline-Lead
Vessel Form: Plate
The paste is hard, compact, and often white to off-white in color. The glaze is clear to light gray with overall, large-patterned crazing. It may be slightly bluish where it pools. Glazes on whitewares were either lead or, more commonly, alkaline-lead. Visually distinguishing between these glaze types is nearly impossible, so it is often recorded only as “alkaline-lead”.
