Eduard Suess (1831-1914) was an Austrian geologist and politician of the 19th century and became known as an expert in the tectonic construction of the Alps. As a politician in the Vienna City Council and member of the Liberal Party in the Lower Austrian Parliament, he was primarily responsible for the regulation of the Vienna Danube and the construction of the I. Vienna Water Pipeline.
