More model information** Ek Balam ** is a recently (since 1997) excavated Maya site near Valladolid on the Yucatan Peninsula. Although it is close to the tourist attraction of Chichen Itza (only 56 km to the southwest), it is still a quiet place to visit.
The fourth level of the Acropolis is dominated by a tremendous snake mouth as it is characteristic for the Chenes style. It is executed as a stucco relief with extraordinary full-plastic figures standing as usual on stone slabs protruding from the facade.
The place was in its splendor from the 8th to the 9th century AD - while Ukit Kan Lek Tok was the ruler of the city. His grave was found in the Acropolis just behind the stucco relief.
The model was generated from 131 photos taken with a Lumix DMC-TZ61.
