The Kairokuin Temple in Minami-Senju, Arakawa-ku, Tokyo, was established in 1667 by the Kairokuin Temple in the main temple to memorialize those who died in prison or were executed.

In 1771, Sugita Gembaku, Nakagawa Junan, Maeno Ryosawa and others attended the autopsy of a deceased prisoner at the Kozukahara Penitentiary to verify the accuracy of the anatomical charts.
