Last official name: Isla de la Gomera Type: steam cargo ship Tonnage: 549 GRT Dimensions: 51x8m Commissioned: 1918 Sank: 1946 Depth: 28–42 meters Location: Cabo de Palos, Murcia, Spain
Built in Cádiz in 1918 as Nadir, the ship was renamed Isla de la Gomera in 1935. In April 1946, she left Cartagena for Barcelona carrying oranges. On the night of April 13–14, a breach in the hull and rough seas caused her to sink rapidly near Cabo de Palos. Only 8 of 18 people onboard survived. Oranges covered the shore, thus the wreck became known as El Naranjito - the little orange.
The model is an outcome of a GUE Project Naranjito 2024/2025 led by Bartek Trzcinski.
