Electromagnetic induction occurs when changing magnetic flux generates an electromagnetic field. Mutual inductance is a special case where one device affects another through Faraday’s law. When using a generator for alternating voltage, the secondary coil experiences induction. However, with direct current, voltage is only measured briefly when the current change is triggered by a switch.
