Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source (ECRIS)

I have designed this cutaway drawing of an Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source (ECRIS) for idonus.

The ECR ion source was invented by Richard Geller in the 1970’s. This type of ion source is know to be highly efficient for the production of multi-charged ion beams.

At CERN, such an equipment can be found inside the linear accelarator of heavy ions (LINAC 3).
