Minehead had small vessels collectively called smacks that consisted of cogs and carracks in the early years, and sloops and ketches later on. In 1953 the ketch Emma Louise sailed out of Minehead harbour marking the end of such coastal trading vessels working from here.
Google ‘Minehead Maritime Mile iOS app’ to learn more and see the Emma Louise appear in the harbour, using Augmented Reality.
