Truncated trusses have two sloping chords and horizontal top and bottom chords. These trusses are typically used to form hip ends. Where there is more than one truncated truss in a hip end the trusses are named in sequence based on their distance from the hip end wall.

The first truncated truss from the hip end wall is called the First station truncated truss. The second truss from the hip end wall is called the Second station truncated truss, etc.
