Creating 3D objects from real-world items is a fascinating process that involves capturing the shape and appearance of physical objects and translating them into digital 3D models.

In 1899, the art-loving Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig founded an artists’ colony on the Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt to promote the arts and crafts of Hesse. During its existence, 23 artists belonged to the colony. On the occasion of four exhibitions, a series of pioneering buildings with their interiors, ranging from furniture to tableware, were created until 1914. These buildings were embedded in a park with sculptures, fountains and garden pavilions. In these houses and gardens, the artists created accessible living environments as aesthetic total works of art. Here you can find the most important facts about the history of the Darmstadt Artists’ Colony.
