Eric Patrick Clapton, born March 30, 1945 in Ripley, near Guildford, is a British blues rock guitarist, singer, singer-songwriter. In 2011, in its ranking “the 100 greatest guitarists of all time”, the monthly Rolling Stone placed him in second position, just behind Jimi Hendrix. He is the only artist to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times: once as a solo artist and then as a member of the Yardbirds and Cream. in March 1965, John Mayall asked him to join the Bluesbreakers. At the time, the group was already a reference in British R&B, so Clapton accepted the proposal. Swapping his Fender Telecaster for a Gibson Les Paul Standard for a more authentic and powerful sound, Clapton plays with passion, and establishes his reputation as a prodigy instrumentalist.
