The structure of ERN1 is useful when studying the protein-protein interactions that lead to the stress and unfolded protein responses in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), as it allows one to visualise the domains that may be responsible for interactions with other proteins. The AlphaFold model of ERN1 was used to show all the domains in this investigation (1), as no structures exist for the crystallised protein in its entirety.
