More model informationBozzetto of the Archangel Michael on the Stations of the Cross at Heiligenkreuz Abbey. The terracotta design was created by Josef Schnitzer, an employee of Giovanni Giuliani’s workshop. The archangel is equipped with a flaming sword and a shield. The right forearm, hand and parts of the sword are broken off. Partially replaced. Terracotta; h 32,8 cm; 1740-1745
The bozzetto was an important preliminary stage for testing changes and work steps due to the difficulty of working with the materials of the final work. However, it also served to give the client the opportunity to make changes.
