Eugenie Maria Wynne (1827-?)
About 1875 Painted plaster
This portrait bust is a plaster version of a terracotta sculpture orignally displayed at the Wynne family house, Garthewin, in Denbighshire. Dalou was one of the most prominent French sculptors of the late nineteenth century. He fled to London in 1871 having been politically active in the failed Paris Commune. It is thought that he and Wynne met during his exile, through her family’s artistic connections.
