The 138 ft two masted schooner Eureka was built in 1872 and later converted to a schooner barge. In October 1886 it was being towed with a load of iron ore near Whitefish Point Lake Superior in a storm when it broke loose and sank in 55 ft of water killing all on board. There is not much remaining of the hull that is not covered with iron ore or sand. The model was created from 988 30 megapixel images shot by Andrew Goodman.
