A modern (2024) male Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) right maxillary canine from Southern Germany. Perforated unifically on the lingual side with a hafted flake (hand drill) of Jura hornstein over 29.5 minutes. This is 1 of 30 teeth comprising an experimental reference collection for evaluating archaeological usewear stemming from the production and suspension of European Upper Paleolithic personal ornaments. This model was produced with an Artec Micro automated desktop 3D scanner at the University of Tubingen’s Material Culture Laboratory.
