More model informationFrom the Princeton Battlefield State Park, these fragments of iron weighing 12 pounds, used to be one solid piece of exploding shell shot. Recovered from the Atlantic Ocean, the shot eroded because of prolonged exposure to salt water and eventually broke apart while on display in the Clarke House at Princeton. Upon closer examination, Park staff discovered seashells on the inside, indicating that sea life took up residence inside the hollow shell while it was submerged.
