This rough animation shows several of the basic steps of face development. The mandibular prominences are not included. This demonstrates the movement of the maxillary prominences to meet the medial nasal prominences; the deepening of the nasal pits; and the establishment of the nasal septum and palate to demarcate the nasal cavities from the oral cavity.
