The presented device is one of the few surviving emergency telephones on the factory premises, which used to be on the equipment of every industrial facility. The massive telephone, weighing over 20 kg, was manufactured after World War II as a miner’s telephone at the Zakłady Wytwórcze Urządzeń Sygnalizacyjnych (ZWUS) in Katowice-Wełnowiec. Originally, this type of telephone was intended for communication in methane mines and in rooms with a high risk of explosion. Its cast-iron construction, which is resistant to mechanical damage.
