IBERIAN SABER (FALCATA) The image shows how it was made by hammering three sheets of iron on an anvil. The grooves introduced air into the wound and favored the development of gangrene. It is believed that the length of the blade (here 17 inches) was the same as that of the owner’s forearm. The hilt is shaped like a horse’s head with three rivets. It appeared inside the iron frame of its scabbard. The wooden handle is lost.
