Sable ibero. En la imagen se aprecia su fabricación martillando en un yunque tres láminas de hierro. Las acanaladuras introducían aire dentro de la herida y favorecían el desarrollo de gangrena. Se cree que la longitud de la hoja (aquí 44 centímetros) coincidía con la del antebrazo del propietario. La empuñadura tiene forma de cabeza de caballo con tres remaches. Apareció dentro del armazón de hierro de su vaina. El mango de madera se ha perdido. (Necrópolis de Poble Nou, sector Quintana, tumba 37, s. V-IV aC, inv.: 011011).

IBERIAN SABER (FALCATA) The image shows how it was made by hammering three sheets of iron on an anvil. The grooves introduced air into the wound and favored the development of gangrene. It is believed that the length of the blade (here 17 inches) was the same as that of the owner’s forearm. The hilt is shaped like a horse’s head with three rivets. It appeared inside the iron frame of its scabbard. The wooden handle is lost.
