A falchion is a type of one-handed, single-edged sword that was used in medieval Europe, especially between the 13th and 16th centuries. It has a slightly curved blade, resembling a machete, and was designed for powerful chopping and slashing. Despite its somewhat crude appearance compared to other swords like the longsword, the falchion was effective against lightly armored opponents and popular among both knights and foot soldiers. Its design combines elements of a sword and an axe, making it a versatile and formidable weapon in close combat.
