Fang people, Gabon. Early 18th c. Wood (Alstonia congensis or bonei) with an oozing patina (palm oil, resin, charcoal). H. 27 cm.
Provenance: Musée d’ethnographie de Neuchâtel (MEN), Switzerland, inv. III.C.7400. Acquired from Father Henri Trilles in 1902.
