Location: Puławska 113a, Warsaw, Poland
Disclosure: 1918
The composition was commissioned by Antoni Cierplikowski, also known as Antoine de Paris. This world-renowned stylist and hairdresser was famous for his eccentric lifestyle, which included sleeping in a glass coffin and conducting dress rehearsals for his own funeral. Initially, he placed the sculpture “Fatum” at the Longjumeau cemetery, planning it as his future tombstone. However, in the 1960s, he decided to move it to the Passy cemetery in Paris, visible from the windows of his apartment. It turned out that the sculpture was too heavy to be installed in the new location, so Cierplikowski ordered a smaller version of the composition, and the original was donated to a museum.
