More model informationEquestrian statue of Field Marshal Earl Roberts at Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow.
Unveiled on 1816, it is a copy of the monument erected in Calcutta in 1898 (moved post-independence to Nashik, Maharashtra). Another copy of the statue, lacking the monumental plinth, can be found at Horse Guards, London.
It stands on a plinth with relief carvings of soldiers, horse-drawn wagons, and the figures of Victory (west) and War (east). Its inscriptions indicate the titles of Roberts, as well as the campaigns he participated in, and a quote from one of his speeches.
