Trying to conceptualize the poor and destitute in Feudal japan is a difficult process, it was a difficult time full of war and termoil. Which is why you have to aplaud the peaseants at the very bottom heirarchy who turned one of lifes irrevocable misseries into beauty. The Obon festival is one such portrayal, honoring the dead and leading the spirits back into their world lighting the way with thousands of glowing flowers. This is the conceptualization of the fireworks float drifting down the river
