More model informationThe Flint Ink building was part of California Ink, which operated on this site between 1906 and 1999. Cal Ink originated in 1891, in Los Angeles, as a subsidiary of Union Oil Company. Sometime between 1900 and 1903, the company moved its manufacturing plant to West Berkeley, into buildings that had been part of the Raymond Tannery.
The “carbon warehouse,” depicted in this 3d model, connected directly with the nearby railroad tracks. A spur that went directly into the factory was used to load vats of ink onto freight cars.
