Floor Outlet Safety Cover

This is an object designed to press fit around a raised floor outlet in order to prevent any accidents involving tripping over or stubbing one’s toe on the outlet. This object was designed in Solidworks and exported as an .STL for the express purpose of being printed on an FDM 3D printer. It is recommended that this object be printed using a more robust material such as ABS or PETG due to the nature of it’s use. The print can be done at a lower resolution to decrease print time as a higher resolution benefits the print in no way.

The UAB Libraries Emerging Technolgy and System Development department created 6 of these outlet safety covers and is using them in Sterne Library Virtual reality.
