Fluorite is a mineral that has a wide variety of colours caused by minute amounts of impurities in crystals that are often shaped like cubes. It can fluoresce, or glow, when exposed to ultraviolet light and the term “fluorescence” is derived from fluorite. This cluster of fluorite crystals comes from the Lavrion Mining District in Greece that was first mined over 4000 years ago.
