Fonte Nuova D'Ovile e Bottino3D Model
Fonte Nuova D’Ovile: The Fonte Nuova d’Ovile, located in the Pian d’Ovile district of Siena, is an example of Sienese Gothic architecture. Constructed entirely of brick between 1295 and 1303, with additional works until 1321, the project was designed by Sozzo di Rustichino and Camaino di Crescentino, with renowned artists such as Giovanni Pisano and Duccio di Buoninsegna. The structure has two pointed arches on the main façade and one on the side, while the interior has two large basins covered by ribbed cross vaults. Equipped with both a drinking trough and a washing basin, the fountain receives its water from the bottini, an extensive system of underground aqueducts stretching approximately 25 km. This network supplied Siena with water until the 20th century. Today, the fountain stands as an important historical testament and is highly recommended for visitors, particularly those in the Pian d’Ovile area. 3D model made using a combination of TLS and terrestrial photogrammetry processed in RealityCapture.
